An obstacle to the Circular Economy - More than 9 years have passed since the publication of the Regulation (EC) No. 282/2008 setting up the rules on the use of recycled plastic materials in food applications. To this date, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has adopted more than 140 positive scientific opinions on the safety of processes to recycle plastics for use in food contact materials.

In the light of the latest developments in the field of the EU circular economy and the approaching European strategy on plastics, the European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC) has launched a European survey on the current and future use of recycled plastics materials (RPM) in Europe’s plastics converting industry.

“The Best Polymers for Europe Awards represent a major opportunity for re-establishing a constructive dialogue and a good communication between suppliers and users of polymers in Europe.“
- Ron Marsh, Chairman of the Polymers for Europe Alliance

The Polymers for Europe Alliance was set up by the European Plastics Converters association (EuPC) in 2015 due to the shortage of polymers for converters in Europe. Its objective is to build and maintain good communications between suppliers and customers of polymers and additives in Europe following the catastrophic situation during the first semester 2015.

On 29 - 30 March, the Plastics Recycling Show Europe took place in Amsterdam. We were present with our own stand and the Polymer Comply Europe team to introduce our regulatory compliance, news and information services to the recycling industry in Europe.
